Is it something New? aren't we aware of this? anyways, pakistan may be a failed state today but hope it will come out of this mess. wasn't this topic banned?

You can't expect everything to happen overnight...and we have been able to eliminate some poverty and are continuously working towards welfare of poors...the way we have been able to reduce poverty and are reducing surely makes us a successful country

on the other hand, poverty in pakistan is increasing year after year..thats a sign of failed state...don't you think??

If increasing poverty and hunger are the criteria, then let's see which is a failed state.

Poverty in Pakistan decreased from about 34.5% to 17.2% and hunger went down with it during Musharraf years from 2000 to 2008, as reported by World Bank and IFPRI as lagging indicators in 2010.

The global hunger index score, published annually by the International Food Policy Research Institute(IFPRI), is a number between zero and 100, with lower figure signifying less hunger.

Based on hunger data collected from 2003 to 2008, IFPRI reported that Pakistan's hunger index score improved over the last three consecutive years reported since 2008 from 21.7 (2008) to 21.0 (2009) to 19.1 (2010) and its ranking rose from 61 to 58 to 52. During the same period, India's index score worsened from 23.7 to 23.9 to 24.1 and its ranking moved from 66 to 65 to 67 on a list of 84 nations.

here is a line from this site :http://www.stateofpakistan.org/the-...51-percent-reports-an-oxford-university-study

A survey of 104 developing countries by the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative at the University of Oxford measures the incidence of poverty using overall living conditions for households.
According to this survey , the percentage of poor in Pakistan is 51% compared to 17%to 22% poverty rates cited in the official statistics.

OK Indians, you don't have to tell us about Pakistan's problems, we live there.
every country got problems.

Good for Pakistan..if they think so...
I wish Baloch and Urdu speaking people in Karachi could think same...

Talking to one who has roots in both..
perhaps your cynical statement may lead to your own foot in your mouth.
The Baloch issue will have to be addressed.. But please dont worry for us UP wallah's..
We still love our nation better than the dirt ridden roads of what was our ancestral home.
And compared to all those of us that stayed behind.. we have prospered ten times more.
Cynical sarcastic ignorant commentators..

You people know a lot about Baloch and Urdu speakers don't you. Yet you don't know or aren't willing to know what sh!t happens in your red corridor.

Anyways yes Urdu speaking population also thinks the same. I myself one of them.

Pakistan is not a failed state but its a failing state. And if nothing is done to stop this madness, we might be there very soon officially!

I 100% agree with you.

here is a line from this site :The Percentage of Poor in Pakistan is 51 percent, reports an Oxford University Study | State of Pakistan

The 17% poverty reported for Pakistan by World Bank is income poverty based on population living below $1.25 a day. The comparable figure for India is 41%.

The Oxford study you talk about goes beyond income poverty; it talks about multi-dimensional poverty.

And going by Oxford study, India's MPI poverty rate is 54%, worse than Pakistan's 51%.

In fact, it says that India is not only poorer than Pakistan, but India is even poorer than the all of the poorest states of sub-Saharan Africa combined.
