it a democratic state the state should not have the right to implement "moral" laws. citizens should be completely free long as they are not security threat or infringing on others rights……in a modern society we have multiple sexual partners… so why do we have laws against multiple spouses??
give me one good reason for a law against polygamy or polyandry??
note: this is for a liberal secular country like india or european countries ect… laws against polyandry are there for religious reasons in islamic states.

I said equality. I dont mind if polyandry is allowed along with polygamy - however that can be allowed once we reach a certain level in our country. That certain level is 100% education and zero dire poverty(note - I use the word dire - ie a condition where the people have no food to eat).

In that case, all citizens can make informed choices, are aware of their rights and will not be hoodwinked or forced by group or forced by their poverty.

I hope we reach that state in 2-3 decades time. Post that as a society we can have a discussion on the merits and demerits of it.

But in all cases, we need a Uniform Civil Code.

Ofcourse there is. What do you think divorce laws are? Or how will they be handled, how will disputes be handled by Courts.
Civil codes are required, what is required in those civil codes are equality granted to all.
