A 5th generation jet fighter to be operational by 2025

The following line should make it obvious that they are talking abuot PAK-DA, not PAK-FA:

"PAK FA was expected to use 5th generation engine custom-built for Russia’s fifth-generation T-50 jet fighters."

T-50 is what is now called PAK-FA. They planned to use the same engine for a strategic bomber, but have decided against it. Also, the statements that they want it to replace Tu-160 and Tu-95 should tell anybody what they are talking about.

Seems like this erroneous article gave false hopes to some people here, and the opportunity to make a few snide remarks. Everything serves a purpose, I guess.

Who cares?

Russian still hasn't largely deployed the 4.5 gen fighter like Su-35, which its prototype was built back in the Soviet era. And it took 10 years to renovate a second hand small carrier.

You can just see how their today's efficiency goes so far.

The main reason for that is funding, the Russians have the technology, the only thing that is lacking is a steady flow of funds. India and Russia are both funding the development of PAK FA so I don't see much problem.

When the time pass out, its technology will become obsolete compared to its competitors.

Obviously YOU care, judging by how you jumped in to comment on this thread before realising the error, and are now bringing in unrelated developments to continue your tirade.

Oh and by the way, Su-35's prototype was not built in the soviet era. Unless yuo are confused about what a prototype is. Maybe you are referring to the fact that it is derived from the Su-27 family. In that case, you should check up what a prototype of an aircraft is.

I don't understand what you are trying to say. But while PAK DA and FA will have similar stealth tech. they will have different avionics and I think the PAK DA will have much better since its coming out later and by then the Russian would probably have made improvements in the tech. so I don't know how it will be old.

So USSR ceased to exist before 1988?

Su-35 (Su-27M)

You should read the article before you link it. Read the second sentence in it. It clearly says that what was then called Su-35 is not the Su-35 of today. The second sentence also has a link to the page about the new Su-35. The Su-27M that they called Su-35 then was not developed. It is not to be confused with the aircraft that was built later and called S-35. Seriously, you scored a self goal there.

And read the first line here:
http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/russia/su-35bm.htm

SU-35BM (Bolshaya Modernizatsiya - Big Modernization)

So Su-35BM has nothing to do with Su-27M?

Your logic sounds great to me.

No it doesnt. The article you linked clearly states that. I repeat - read the second sentence in the article you linked, and click the link in the parantheses of that sentence. It is not a matter of logic. It is a matter of fact. Its ok, people make mistakes. The important thing is to accept it humbly.

I know its embarassing to score a self goal like that, but do yourself a favour and don't embarass yourself further. Also, get into the habit of reading the article itself, or if that is beyond your abilities, at least read the first couple of lines. Not just the title. Thats how to avoid these embarassments in future.

Merry christmas.

I think its PAKDA and Not PAKFA

since the article says that it will replace Tu-95 and Tu-160 which are infact long range bomber
and Pakfa is suposed to replace Su25 , Su27 and Mig29 in Russian service

My guess is that it could be similar to the American Next gen Bomber project which was initiated to Replace B-52 and B-1 from 2025 and complement the B-2 Spirit
