75 defence personnel in Pakistan's custody: govt
Press Trust of India, New Delhi, Aug 2 2017, 16:54 IST

There are 75 missing Indian defence personnel, including 54 prisoners of war, who are believed to be in Pakistan's custody, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

However, presence of these missing Indians has not been acknowledged so far by Pakistan, Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh said in a written reply.

He also said that as of July 27, there are 417 fishermen in Pakistan's custody and 15 fishermen in Sri Lanka's custody, who are believed to be Indian nationals.

"In case of Pakistan, consular access is awaited and information about the states that they belong to is not available. In case of Sri Lanka, the 15 fishermen are believed to be from Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry," Singh said.

Replying to another question on the issue, he said, the government regularly takes up with Sri Lanka and Pakistan the matter of early release and repatriation of Indian fishermen and fishing boats.

If one was to believe in Indian's claim then if out of 75 there are 54 POW then who are other 25.!!!

Why don't you give back the 54 POW's ?

It is really cruel and un-professional

Here's easy math....the alleged POW are said to be from 1971 war which took place 46 years earlier.
By any account anyone who fought in that war would be in their 70s and over, a person that old is more of a liability than anything else so why would Pakistan want to hold on to these old timers.

Only reason is that they are insane by torture and pakistan may end up getting international condemnation.

Its really sad you did not release them earlier.

Least you can do is pass them off as fishermen and hand them back one by one

Shamefull and disgusting.

What do you get by keeping 54 officers in prison after the war is over and all your POW's are back safely ?

Nothing is worse than this. Pakistan as a nation ought to be ashamed of itself.

Remember you have prisoned our Pigeon....how shameful, disgusting, low life, despicable and morally bankrupt is that.

i dont think we have prisoner of wars. Those people might hv gone missing and then put in Pakistan bucket.

Enough evidence from both sides of border that 54 Indian POW's are in Pakistani jails and have lost their mental senses due to excessive torture.

There can be nothing worse than this. Nothing.
