Let me tell you, I grew up in the US and I have never seen the situation this bad ever in my life. People are divided beyond belief and anyone with a mind has been stocking up on arms/ammunition. Both ends of the political spectrum have become completely militant.

On the right we have the proud boys, white nationalist militias, christian militias. On the left we antifa, blm/black panthers, and communist militants. Yes things can set off pretty quick. The most disturbing part of this is that the right wingers have infiltrated into law enforcement, military, and the govt itself and are coordinating at a much higher level. If a war does break out I dont expect it to last more than a few weeks with swift right wing victories.

I am just making home after a night out. And there was yet another chat with an American who was visiting my area from a different city. And the words 'Civil War' came up again. These words come up again and again in chats. Anyway, the guy said there will not be a Civil War like in the 1860s but a lot of violence nonetheless. While that maybe one man's opinion, I also know of several other people's opinion and the words Civil War come up again and again.

Per my understanding, there will not be a Civil War like in the 1860s--to understand that you should watch Ken Burns Civil War series. But UNLESS one party has a decisive win in the Nov. 2020 elections, this country is going to be mired in a lot crippling legal and street fights. This is the WEALTHIEST country in the world and both sides have deep rooted vested interests--imagine transfer of HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS in either direction should there be a favorable alignment of political forces. And thus the Americans fight!!!

Agreed this election will be long and drawn out. Election results definately will come long after the night of november 3rd and I expect Trump to bog it down as much as possible. A complete coup and take over by Trump is a big possibility and it might be aided by right wing elements.

It would not be that easy... the supreme court is packed with republicans. If they confirm trumps nominee they have a super majority in the supreme court. Trump has packed the federal courts with 3000 of his hand picked judges.
