It was comical to see both TuQ and IK give the government 'deadlines' to comply with their demands.

The developing political situation was a little chaotic in the first few days and had me slightly concerned, in light of the propensity which large mobs have to turn unruly and destructive without prior warning. In spite of my concern, however, it made me chuckle to see both IK and TuQ give the government a day and hour by which to obey their directions else they would be sorry they hadn't.

To add to my amusement, the media channels seem to play along by displaying digital split-flap displays at the bottom of their broadcasts showing the amount of time the government had left to meet the demands of the protesters.

The fact that all the ultimatums set by both the camps failed to achieve anything meaningful over the course of the past 6 days has left me absolutely elated. In a democracy, one does not simply gather a handful of people, give the government a deadline backed by the threat of force and assume that they represent the will of the entire electorate. They don't. And although I'm in agreement with 4 of the 6 demands of the PTI, I'm extremely critical of they way IK conducted himself while exercising his right to protest.

Although it is true that the government should fear the people, rather than the people fearing the government, it is also true that dissidents of state functionaries should conduct themselves with dignity and acceptable moral standards while respecting the constitutional and administrative structure which Pakistan is desperately trying to develop.

2-5 are fine. 1 and 6 are very unreasonable, have insufficient justification and are not within the interests of Pakistan.

We've all, many of us said this drama will end with negotiations and their demands will be forgotten. It's all just a huge drama.

I don't support NS and his government, you should see the kind of things I said in this very forum.
But I also don't see the need to have a re-election, it's not good for the country, nor is removing elected representatives.

Once 2 through 5 are met, then we as a nation can move to remove corruption and misuse of power.

Re-election is useless without those points being met well in advance, and the first is no good for stability, nor is it very democratic.
