58 % Pakistanis believe they have greater freedom to speak: Gallup

58 percent of Pakistanis believe they have greater freedom to speak now than ten years ago; 20% feel this freedom has declined the rest find no difference, said a survey Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked In the last 10 years, freedom to speak has increased, decreased or has there been no difference? Responding to this 58% think that the freedom to speak has increased, 20% think that it has decreased whereas 21% think that there has been no difference since last 10 years. However 1% did not give a view.
The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2701 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during November 20 November 26, 2011. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
