Its been 40 years since Iran broke the shackles of Yankee control of its politics and its affairs just want to know what Pakistanis think of the Iranian Islamic Revolution and its effects

The biggest disaster for Pakistan and Western Asia. Pakistan and Turkey have been the biggest losers second only to Iran itself.

West Asia [Turkey, Iran, Pakistan] would have been linked by rail and motorways. Therre would gave been massive economic integration in West Asia and you could drive from Islamabad, Tehran to Ankara on motorways with daily train services. There would be huge trade along the region and possibly a eco-military alliance.

All screwed because of 1979.

iran has alot of oil, turkey has educated class, pakistan large population for labour and livestock agriculture. Wuld have been perfect three way trade.

That revolution came directly from the land of revolutions i.e. France. I simply don't trust Mr Khomeni and his revolution.

the iraq invasion helped iran expand and they joined usa and worked together take down reistance of course quietly.

ahah conspiracy theories . men educate yourselves.
Khomeyni was a short time in France. He came in France like lot of Iranians by his own choice: Bani Sadr, princes kings of many countries .. you know why? because Paris is attracting lot of rich people or for Khomeyni he couldn't go USA so he went to Europe. It is quite opened countries for migrants that time.
By the way he spent much much more time in Iraq before
Anyway the president that time hated the shah: if you read Nahavandi's book you can find that even US diplomats are surprised he hates that much Iran's shah.

The revolution and Khomeini were the best thing for Iran at that time. The crooked shah deserved what he got.

What I hear from many Iranians is that Khomeini was a good man and great leader, but not a good politician.

They say that the state began cracking down on its own citizens due to various rival groups vying for power.

Eventually we have the system now which is a democratic setup with a council of elder scholars.

It is much better than all surrounding countries, who are easily controlled by outside power.

I respect Iran and Iranians for their loyalty to their country and their faith.

They serve as an example to Pakistanis how to forge a unified identity, because we still can’t decide if we are Muslims or a state, or not.

That weakness is the greatest asset of our enemies.
