I'm all for 红旗河 project which plans to divert water from Tibet to Xinjiang, if done, the whole deserts in Xinjiang will become fertile lands, that is the size of several provinces added up!

Love desert poplar forest in Xinjiang Taklamakan Desert, the largest desert poplar forest in the world. A famous Russian explorer wrote in his diary last century that Caspian tigers were so numerous and they outnumbered packs of wolves. Really hope the ecological system in this region can recover and become even better than that time.

Taklamakan Desert poplar forest, largest desert forest in the world, with multiply water diversion projects completed and being carried out currently, they will surely grow better and expand more in the heart of the second biggest desert in the world, Taklamakan desert.

I am very happy for China that they are looking after their rivers and waters and making it available for the Chinese people. Here they have absolutely killed the water. They have taken water off the poor Aussie farmers and sold it to the corporations who have the money. It has devastated hundreds of farmers who are now closing down or selling their farms as they have no water for their animals and agriculture. It has devastated forests and the environment. It is an absolute disgrace that Human dignity and freedom has been killed off by paper money.

The Caspian tiger lived in countries on the western and eastern edges of the Caspian Sea, such as Turkey, northern Iran and perhaps part of Afghanistan; and in central Asia, including areas of the Taklamakan Desert in the autonomous Xinjiang Uyghur region in the north-east of China.
It inhabited mostly seasonally flooded riverine land consisting of trees, shrubs, and dense stands of tall reeds and grass up to six meters in height. One tiger was killed near the Lob Nor basin in Xinjiang, China. Caspian tigers disappeared from Xinjiang’s Tarim River basin in the Tian Shan mountains, west of Urumyi, in the 1960s.

I wish Caspian tigers can reappear in this region, but I know it's a wishful thinking, Caspian tigers all went extinct for decades already. Genetically Caspian tigers are almost identical to Siberian tigers, which has a healthy population in north east China. A reintroduction program can be an option for revival of Xinjiang tigers.
