$21b plan for safe water, sanitation by 15 years
FE Report

The government has finalised a comprehensive plan to ensure safe drinking water and sanitation for all by the next fifteen years.

About US $ 21 billion investment package has been proposed for implementing the plan to ensure people’s access to safe drinking water having modern supply system and hygienic and quality toilets by 2025.

The Local Government Division (LGD) under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives will implement the project.

The Policy Support Unit (PSU) of LGD formulated the plan after consultations with the people of different strata. The plan was finalised Monday at the national workshop on “Sector Development Plan (SDP) for Water Supply and Sanitation in Bangladesh” at a city hotel Monday.

The LGD organised the event with the joint secretary of the Local Government Division Zuena Aziz in the chair.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of LGRD and Cooperatives Advocate Md Rahmat Ali was present as the chief guest.

Deputy head of mission of the Danish Embassy Jen Moller Hansan, Secretary of LGD Abu Alam Md Shahid Khan, Deputy Secretary Shamsuddin Ahmed and Project Director Shariful Alam were present on the occasion.

This is a good move to improve sanitation, access to safe drinking water ...but needs to implement it perfectly... even though we are ahead of the bhartis in this regard but we are lagging then the pakistanis... lets hope this will be a real project unlike big talk an blaff by the ALs...

Another "quick" rental power plant type plundering scheme by Awami regime. When national financial health is in tatter and Awami regime can not even manage economy, where $21 billion will come from?????

I am also from Sylhet. Jalalabad exactly. However I think Bangladeshi need to realize that Awami league is actually work for India. It doesn't care about the interest, culture, religion and social condition of Bangladesh. It's our number one enemy against development and prosperity. Until Bangladeshi realized it and oust Awami dalals out of Bd land, I do not see a develop Bangladesh.

You had to say that didn't you? Cause you wouldn't be able to make your point without saying that

Why do you single handedly pick up AL for all ills? Why don't you also blame the illiterate Begum Zia, who took with her 70 suitcase full of dollars while on a HAJJ trip to Mecca. It was stolen money, she and her people had to buy dollars in the market. The dollar went up by about 4 Taka at that time. She cannot be called a muslim when she steals money from a poor country and goes to Mecca to thank Allah for bestowing her with such a large amount of money. It is strange to see some Jamaatis blindly support her.

are there any proofs to your claims? How do you know the 70 suitcase was full of money? Isn't that an assumption your making? Let's not buy into controversies mainly from propaganda. It goes for both of the prime ministers.

Lets not bring politics in every thread because that only sends us backwards and halts us from a constructive discussion. You guys are senior enough to know that don't you?

Why do you single handedly pick up AL for all ills?

Because Awami league is in power and they did most damage to Bangladesh economy, time and again.

Why don't you also blame the illiterate Begum Zia, who took with her 70 suitcase full of dollars while on a HAJJ trip to Mecca.

I am not big fan of her, but do you have proof of 70 suitcase of dollars?

Do I work for FBI to get all those documentary evidence? I do not have that kind proof. But, there are certainly circumstantial evidence that says what I have stated. By the way, what happened to the Taka12,500 Crore that was earmarked to develop the power sector. When a single watt of power was not added during that illiterate Begum Zia's time, all the money just vanished in the air. That KOKKO's khmba business certainlly was not that worth. BNP wanted to use a more than billion dollar of stolen money to do vote rigging in 2009 election, but could not do so for fear of exposure. BNP voter list had 1 million extra voters. Army govt compiled the list again and the it came down to about 70 million.

Show the proof of your claim on Taka12,500 Crore taka

When a single watt of power was not added

Just few examples:
Boropukuria coal fired power plant with 250 MW started around 2005
Tongi power plant started around 80 MW
7 other power plants was scheduled to be finished around 2008 buy intereim govt cancel those projects.
