Assistant High Commissioner of India in Chattogram Anindya Banerjee on Saturday said around 1.45 million Bangladeshi nationals visited India in 2018 on tourism, medical and business purposes.

At a press briefing at the Assistant High Commission's stall of the ongoing 27th Chattogram International Trade Fair, he also said Indian visa application centres have been opened in Brahmanbaria, Cumilla and Noakhali too to facilitate easy access to Indian visas, reports UNB.

Anindya said more Bangladeshis are getting interested to make foreign trips following Bangladesh's economic advancement and enhancement of their living standard.

"India is an ideal place for visit at a cheaper cost," he said.

Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mahbubul Alam, its Vice-president Syed Zaman Ahmed and directors Mostafa Chowdhury, Zahirul Islam Chowdhury and Anjan Shekhar Das were present.

Mentioning that India always provides assistance to Bangladesh as its true and trusted friend, Mahbubul expressed the hope that it will participate in the fair as a partner country in the future and sought assistant high commission's cooperation in this regard.

Just don't overstay your visa. :whistle:
It would have been even better if no Bangladeshi gone to India at all.

BTW, Do you have any statistics to support your claim that Bangladeshi national more frequently overstay in India compared to other nationality who visit India? Do this overstay happen only incase of India or all other destination Bangladeshi people visit? India is not the only country Bangladeshi tourists visit. Seven hundred thousand Bangladeshi visit Thailand every years. I have never come across any news report about Thailand deporting hoards of Bangladeshi visa overstayer or any Thai complaining about it. Hundreds of thousands of Bangladeshi tourists also visit Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam every year. But no media reports about Bangladeshi tourists have any tendency to overstay in those countries.

Is India is the most lucrative job destination in the whole world? If India is such a lucrative job destination that millions of Bangladeshi tourists are overstaying in India to catch those plentyful,lucrative jobs then why we see such media reports? :undecided:

Over 93,000 candidates, including 3,700 PhD holders apply for peon job in UP
3,700 PHDs holders, 50,000 graduates, 28,000 PGs have applied for 62 posts of messengers in UP police. The post requires a minimum eligibility of Class V.

@Skull and Bones is as stupid and shameless as any other Indian. These Indians believe their country was descended from the Moon with people in fair skin, and silver in one hand and gold in the other. Certainly, Indians are fabulously rich.

So, obviously, BD people overstay in that land of Bombay films. Being from a poor BD we should not feel ashamed to deny our multi-million citizens living in and near the great Bombay slums of India.

One line and you triggered them lol.
When our 1.45 million middle-class people visit India and throw money to the poor Indians, your overstaying Indian poor in BD are sending more than $4 billion from here. You should be ashamed of your Ph.D. holders trying to get Peon jobs and you should be happy to live in doles in Arctic Canada for at least six months a year when you do not even have the street sweeping job.

These people are so baniya minded that since 2016 they arranged special eid visa package so that Bangladeshi people do their eid shopping in India by easing the visa process. At the same time they are making hollow claim of illegal Bangladeshi migrant for domestic consumption.

Speech by High Commissioner of India on the occasion of the inauguration of Eid Visa camp

Honorable Home Minister, His Excellency, Mr. Asaduzzaman Khan;

Honorable State Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Mr. Md Shahriar Alam;

Friends from the media;

And my dear friends from different parts of Bangladesh who have come to this Eid Visa Camp;

Let me begin by wishing you on the eve of the Holy Month of Ramadan!

Today is a very special day. On the occasion of this auspicious festival, we are starting the first visa camp of its kind in the history of our bilateral relationship. This is also the first public event we have held at our new High Commission complex.

The very fact that the High Commission of India has undertaken such an initiative shows the attention that visa occupies in our relationship and the magnitude of our visa operations in your country. The High Commission of India issues the largest number of visas as compared to any other Indian Mission anywhere in world.

This is because ours is a unique relationship. We share the longest border of more than 4096 kilometers. Last year more than one million persons from Bangladesh went to India. And this number is increasing every year. The second largest number of tourists came to India from Bangladesh in 2015.

Every day I meet people in Bangladesh who like to visit India for purposes of tourism, shopping, watching films, medical treatment and for meeting friends and relatives.

This is a positive sign of the growing engagement between our two countries. It is also a manifestation of the liberalized visa regime between the two countries, especially since the Revised Travel Arrangements of 2013.

It is always our endeavor to ease this movement of people. We have taken this initiative for the first time as we know that people in Bangladesh would love to travel to India during the Eid holidays. We want India to be your most preferred destination because we are your closest neighbours and friends.

Many of you will be coming from outside of Dhaka-from Khulna, Barisal, Mymensingh to this Camp. Today there are 11 Visa application centers all over Bangladesh, the largest number of Indian visa centers in any one country. The demand for Indian visa is so high- that it keeps us working round the clock to deliver.

Although this camp is for Tourist visas, India gets the highest number of medical patients from Bangladesh amongst all the other countries. Last year more than 1 lakh medical visas were issued in Bangladesh. Business between both countries is also increasing and more and more Indian companies are coming to Bangladesh upbeat about opportunities and Bangladesh companies are going to India.

This is a small start. You will see many other initiatives from us as we continue to make efforts to facilitate the ease of travel of visitors from Bangladesh to India.

Indians have opened a VISA kiosk in the Malls in Bangladesh, so people can apply for Visas and get them like a train ticket.

Bangladeshis don't really have any reason whatsoever to overstay in India. What the heck for?

By the way, per capita GDP for Bangladesh is reaching up to Indian level soon. And this will be on top of better health, education and other developmental indicators. We don't leave our poor behind. Just watch. :-)

No matter how inflated your ego is, a small prick is enough to burst it. ;)

Dada you have named yourself (or your own tool) a 'small prick'.

We did not say it - you did.

No comment.

Yay spoiled brat complaining about daddy again. Keep crying little one.
